Areas of Practice

The information below is to give a general idea of our areas of practice. While most of our business comes from referrals from other professionals such as other lawyers, accountants, therapists and ministers we welcome the opportunity to consult with those who come to us from reading the information contained herein.

Divorce, Custody & Legitimations

Dissolving a marriage or legitimizing a child are complex matters. Divorces require a Parenting Plan, Child Support determination and division of marital assets and debts. Understanding “marital” property and “separate” property differences is crucial when calculating the division of property. Understanding financial realities as quickly as possible assists in the financial planning for life post-divorce life.

Modifications

A “substantial change of circumstances” allows a Child Support or a Parenting Plan modification. Job changes or a child “aging out” often require Child Support modifications, Relocations and “Election Affidavits” often lead to Parenting Plan modifications.

Uncontested Divorces

We offer competitive pricing for uncontested divorces when both parties agree there are no disputed issues.

Estate Planning

Everyone has a need for Estate Planning. If you die without a Will the State of Georgia will make decisions regarding how your assets will be divided. No one wants that. Even if you believe that you don’t have a need for a Will you need to give directions on the medical care you want or don’t want as well as saying who should have your Power of Attorney if you are unable to handle your affairs. Trusts are a way to manage your assets both during and after your lifetime. They can be a invaluable planning tool.

Probate

Probate, much like Bankruptcy, is often practiced by attorneys who believe it is just a matter of filing paperwork. The Probate process requires many decisions and the wrong decision can cost you money and heartache.

Probate, unfortunately, often entails as much conflict as Divorce, as family members fight over parents’ or grandparents’ estate. Probate can be like a volcano. Years of pent up emotion, jealousy or greed can lead to some of the nastiest fights in the legal profession. Having an attorney that can anticipate potential problems and devise ways to minimize the problems or, if necessary, is equipped to aggressively litigate your position is vital in the Probate process.

Business Law

Businesses need an experienced counsel, who was not born yesterday, as they navigate the business environment. From the organization of the business entity to dissolution of a business entity, wise counsel is crucial.
