Laura Hoskins
I focus on divorce and custody matters. I have come to understand that you need to “stay patient and trust your journey”.
Meet Laura
My goal for my clients is to move them through the legal process as expeditiously as possible. Recently, in a divorce matter, I had my potential client’s mediation session scheduled before he left the office after retaining me.
Moving through the process quickly reduces the financial cost and limits the emotional strain on you and your family.
Not all cases can move through the system expeditiously. However, where they can, this is the best option for the family.
Working with clients, sitting across from one another (or ZOOMING), is my favorite part of my practice. Anticipating problems and strategizing can abbreviate a divorce action by months or maybe years sometimes. I am very interested in mental health issues and their impact on divorce. Substance abuse, “gaslighting”, narcissistic personality disorder like behaviors are all common mental health issues that need to be understood and addressed in a divorce action.
I have practiced divorce law for twenty years. I attended law school in Seattle, Washington and was lucky enough to start my career working for my domestic law professor during the beginning of Seattle’s technology revolution. We dealt with Microsoft stock options and the growth of Amazon in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s. Then, I moved north to Everett, Washington where most of my clients were Boeing employees. The 2008 recession changed family law forever. With my own divorce, I returned home to Atlanta in 2011. Being licensed to practice in two states and working through economic highs and lows, over the past twenty years, has given me the real world experiences that my clients need when working to resolve their disputed issues.
If you are contemplating or going through a divorce, let’s talk.
